First Visit Consultation Fee

The “First Visit Consultation Fee” is established by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Wealth. Its’ goal is to promote the role-sharing for medical institutions as to “treat primary care at a local doctor’s office or clinic, and advanced medical care and professional medical care at a hospital (with more than 200 beds)”. When you do not have a referral letter from a clinic or medical institution at your first visit to a hospital (with more than 200 beds), you must pay this fee. At AIH, this is 5,400yen (including consumption tax).
